13 Simple Steps to Create a Dreamy Pampas Grass Wreath.

Make your own Instagram worthy pampas grass wreath.

I've used our skinny oat pampas to create an understated feel, but if you want to go all in for the drama, take a look at some of our bigger stems!

Here's a link to everything you will need. Some good scissors and a glue gun too:

Here's a step by step guide to making your pampas wreath.

Watch the video above, or follow the easy steps below! In case you're doing both, I've noted times in the video for any of the steps you may want to refer to.

So that you're well prepared, cut some strips of wire around 10-15cm long.

  1. Wrap your first pampas stem around the hoop and position it where your happy with it.

  2. Take your first piece of wire and wrap it around the base of the "fluff" - this will be where your wreath starts. (20s)

  3. You can then chop the rest of the stem off the pampas, leaving a small amount to wrap your ribbon edging around.

  4. Gradually start to bend your pampas stem around the hoop. Add a couple of wire ties to hold it in place (the more hidden they are at this point the better). (30s)

  5. Take a look at it, have a play around and tease out any parts from the wire that you think need it. (1m 10s) You now have the base of your wreath ready to go!

  6. Next, strip a few parts from your second pampas grass stem to use as a filler. Start to position them in any parts that are looking a bit thin, or to cover any of your wire ties that aren't hidden by your base stem.

  7. When you add the filler parts, ensure they are flowing the same way as the first stem. Also that the end of these pieces are as near to the wreath hoop as it will go. (1m 48s)

  8. When you add the filler parts, ensure they are flowing the same way as the first stem. Also that the end of these pieces are as near to the wreath hoop as it will go. (1m 48s)

  9. Now you can heat up your glue gun.

  10. When it's ready, start to glue the filler pieces into position, working your way around the wreath. (3m 21s)

  11. To finish the end of the wreath, cut some ribbon, approx. 30cm in length. Start to wrap this around the end of the pampas stem (I find crossing over the best method for good coverage!). (4m 38s)

  12. Cut another piece of ribbon, another 30cm piece will be fine. Tie it in a bow around the ribbon band you made in the previous step. Cut the strands of the bow to your desired size. (4m 55s)

  13. Finally, add another strand of ribbon to the top of the wreath hoop to use as a hanger.

Tip:
If you have a small hanging hoop on your wreath hoop, you can tie the ribbon in a loop and knot it at the top.
Or, if you don't have a small hoop to attach a hanger, tie the ribbon in a knot around the wreath hoop. Then follow the length of the ribbon up to make a hanging hoop and tie another knot or bow at the top.
You now have your hanger! (4m 28s)
